Watch out for the highest points of the High Tatras, especially in the N sector.

In the highest altitudes of the western part of the High Tatras (above 2200 m above sea level), especially in the N sector, there are still small snow pillows and slabs, which represent a small avalanche danger, i.e. the first degree of the five-part international scale. The avalanche danger is very local and concentrated on places where larger amounts of snow are blown. The risk of such formations is mainly in the entrainment of people into exposed terrain.

Snowpack

After warming, the snow cover boundary moved to the highest positions. Dry snow in unstable pillows and slabs is now found only on the northern sector of the highest altitudes.
