Lavínovým problémom je vetrom previaty sneh z posledného sneženia, hlavne na severnej strane Tatier. Uvoľnenie lavíny je na strmých svahoch možné hlavne pri veľkom dodatočnom zaťažení. Suchý sneh sa dá nájsť už iba vo vysokých polohách na tienistých a severných svahoch Tatier. V stredných a počas dňa aj v najvyšších polohách sa zmrznutý sneh zmení na mokrý.
